How We Review

This page explains exactly how we put our guides and reviews together, so you can judge how much weight to give them.

Our reviews are research-based

Unless an article explicitly states that we tested a product ourselves, our reviews are based on research rather than hands-on testing. We say this up front because we think you deserve to know.

What our research includes

  • Manufacturer information: specifications, manuals, installation guides and warranty terms, taken from the manufacturer’s own published material.
  • Safety and electrical requirements: heater clearances, ventilation guidance and wiring needs, and whether a qualified electrician is required.
  • Owner feedback: patterns across many owner reviews and forum discussions, rather than single anecdotes. We look for recurring problems (assembly, leaks, heater failures, customer service) as well as recurring praise.
  • Value and fit: who a product suits, and who it does not, given space, climate, budget and power supply.

What we will never do

  • Invent test results, temperatures, measurements or quotes.
  • Claim we used a product when we didn’t.
  • Let affiliate commissions decide our recommendations.
  • Give medical advice. Heat and cold exposure carry real risks; talk to a doctor if you have a health condition, are pregnant, or take medication.

Prices and specifications change

Prices, models and specifications change often. Always confirm the current details on the retailer’s or manufacturer’s site before buying. If you spot something out of date, please tell us and we’ll update it.

Updates

We revisit guides when products change or we learn something new, and we note meaningful updates in the article.
